Tsunami warning signs in Bali
The Asian tsunami, followed by the Java tsunami has scared enough people in the tourist scene, to get signs and leaflets printed up. According to BaliDiscovery, the signs and leaflets will give all kinds of useful advice, in Indonesian, about what to do during a tsunami.
Some say that if you can see a tsunami, its already too late, considering the speed and the wave length of waves. Still its thoughtful of the local government to take some action.
Signs are a start, but I reckon we should utilize technology and be able to sign up for a ‘tsunami alert’ via cell phone. Everyone in Indonesia has a cell phone, as does 95% of tourists. That would actually be more effective than a sign, as advanced warnings could be given, before the thing appears on the horizon.
