Beach front dining in Bali

The south Bali coast has a wonderful selection of warungs and restaurants. Some enjoy the added advantage of being located with an ocean view. Here is a rundown of some of the favourite eating establishments located on the Bali beaches.

>; Black Canyon:
Starting with the Tuban area we have Discovery Mall, home to various restaurants overlooking Kuta Bay. One of these is Black Canyon which serves a mix of
Asian and western food. The benefit of eating at Black Canyon is you get a choice of inside or outside seating, views of the ocean and instant access to the mall. Parking is available. Black Canyon is accessed by entering the Discovery Shopping Mall on Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban and walking all the way through to the rear. Average plate 50,000rp.

>; The Wave:
The Wave is located at the southern end of Jl. Pantai Kuta close to the lifeguard tower. This modern place features a clothes shop, bar, restaurant and nightclub. The food can be described as International. The benefits of eating at The Wave are immediate access to Kuta Beach / Hard Rock Hotel / Starbucks and the Kuta area shopping. Average plate 80,000rp.

>; Papa’s Cafe:
Probably the best pizza in Bali. Located across the street from Kuta Beach at the top end of Jl. Pantai Kuta, this Italian restaurant does good food. Great for families. The benefits of eating at Papa’s Cafe are great food, easy access to the top end of Kuta Beach, with the shopping of Jl. Melasti close by. Average plate 80,000rp.

>: Blue Ocean:
Blue Ocean was the first bar on Blue Ocean beach located at the end of Jl. Double Six in Legian / Seminyak. Blue Ocean does great western food, juices and has live music on certain nights. The benefits of eating at Blue Ocean are great beach atmosphere, good food at an affordable price. Average plate 50,000rp.

>; Zanzibar
Zanzibar is another very popular restaurant on Blue Ocean beach. Casual outdoor dining with an international / Italian menu. Benefits to dining here are beach scene, fun atmosphere and close to the shopping / nightlife in Seminyak. Average plate 50,000rp.

>: Gado Gado:
Gado Gado is located the end of Jl. Dhyana Pura. High end restaurant with inside or outside seating. Great for romantic evening. Benefits of eating at Gado Gado are ocean view, classy setting and good food. Average plate 90,000rp.

>; KuDeTa:
Super hip restaurant located on beach on Jl. Petitenget. Great for sunset drinks or dinner. The all western menu is quality and everything about the place is high standard. Benefits of eating at KuDeTa is the ocean view, fun atmosphere and scene. Close to other cool night spots such as Hu’u and The Living Room. Average plate 120,000rp.

>; La Lucciola:
Located on Jl. Petitenget further north from KuDeTa. This beach side restaurant serves nuevo Italian cuisine. Great for family and friends. The benefits of eating at La Lucciola are good food and great beach side setting. Close to Seminyak nightspots. Average plate 90,000rp.

>; The Beach House:
The Beach House in Canggu is located at Echo Beach. Following Jl. Raya Canggu you will see signs posted. The Beach House is a pub style place with good food and beer. Very popular with the Canggu expats and a great Sunday evening bbq. Benefits of eating at The Beach House are lack of other tourists, cool relaxed ‘pub by the sea’ atmosphere and good food. Menu features western, seafood and Asian dishes. Live music on some nights. Average plate 50,000rp.

>; Jimbaran Bay:
One location we couldn’t forget is Jimbaran Bay. With 30 or so seafood warungs right on the sand, eating fresh grilled fish under the stars has to be one Bali experience everyone should try. As informal as it gets and fun. Benefits are plentiful food, cool location and very local feel (even if all the other diners are tourists). Average plate 80,000rp.
