Aceh Police Find Hectares of Hemp: Sumatra, Indonesia

Kind of reminds me of that Leonardo DiCaprio movie where they go out to an island and discover a multitude of sky-tripping plants.

Someone in Aceh has been very busy cultivating seven hectares of hemp plants at Lamteuba village in Aceh Besar regency.

The Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam Police First Insp. Burhanuddin of the Aceh Police investigation unit said that his officers had confiscated 10,540 hemp plants which are currently being stored at the police's narcotics directorate.

Apparently the plants seized were just a portion of the fields!. It seems that somebody didn’t like the dudes doing this in their territory and dobbed on the botanists as the police said they acted on a tip off. A police spokesman said that several days ago they were informed about the existence of the hemp plants on a hill about eight kilometres from Lamteuba and so they deployed 30 personnel to the location.

The head of the police said that all the confiscated hemp plants would be destroyed in conjunction with the inauguration of the Ulee Lheue police post by National Police Chief Gen. Sutanto. I wonder just how much of it goes astray. One thing for sure, you will have plenty of people standing 'downwind' when the fires are burning!.
