New surf website in Bali

This afternoon I met up with Palu, the Aussie guy from Byron who has a surfboard factory on the Bukit. Palu specializes in big yellow sleds, for learners. If you want to wipe out half a dozen Kuta Cowboys in one go, borrow one of Palu’s boards, they are surfing’s equivalent to the Humvee.

Latest news is Palu has new website (and here’s a guy who was not interested in a #1 Google ranking for ‘Bali surfboards’ 2 years ago, on Baliblog). When Palu gets time off, from his waitress job at Q Bar in Seminyak, he actually shapes a good board, his surfing lesson students, feeling confident in his no frills approach, which also includes safety tips. Not a great surfer himself, he tends to hog the beach break on small afternoons in Kuta (that’s him in the bikini). If you are coming to Bali, there’s nothing more fun than learning to surf. I recommend taking surfing lessons from someone who takes safety seriously (he’s never been out of his depth). For surfers new to Bali looking for a decent board that will take a beating, you might look up the big guy on Poppies II in Kuta. The yellow boards are so bloody ugly, that no Balinese will ever steal it from you!

So come on out to Bali, experience the thrill of surfing, with an experienced professional.
