Transport in Sanur
Getting around in Sanur is easy, due to the large number of taxis patrolling the main street, Jl. Danau Tamblingan. The best company is Bluebird (0361)701111, who operate a fleet of light blue taxis with a 24 hour dispatch service. As anywhere in Bali, public bemo buses serve Sanur and are used mostly by locals. You are better off renting your own transport from one of the many car rental places along Jl. Danau Tamblingan, or a car with driver. One of the better car rental companies is JBA (0361)286501 located inside the Diwangkara Hotel (Jl. Hang Tuah 54). They can provide a driver at short notice also.
The Segara Village Hotel located on Jl. Segara Ayu does bicycle tours of Sanur. Bicycles are ideal for the area as the flat coastal land and pleasant streets are less trafficked than Kuta. Be sure to wear a hat and long sleeves.
Many hotels in Sanur will provide transportation to the airport for a fee that is slightly more than the metered Bluebird taxis. One of the best ways of getting to and leaving Sanur is by Perama bus. Their local office is located at Warung Pojok mini market at Jl. Hang Tuah 31 (0361)285592, in north Sanur. Other Perama bus drop points in Sanur include Nagasari Tours (0361)288096 at Jl. Danau Tamblingan 102 in Sindhu and Tunas Tour (0361)288581 located at Jl. Danau Tamblingan 105 in Semawang.
Boats trips to Nusa Lembongan can be taken directly from Sanur. The public boats are located at the jetty at the end of Jl. Hang Tuah in north Sanur. Tickets are sold at the office close to the Ananda Hotel and the boats depart twice daily (8am & 10.30am). The crossing time is 1 hour 30 minutes and the coast is around 50,000rp.
Perama also has a boat service to Nusa Lembongan, leaving at 10.30am. This has to be pre-booked the day before. Prices are slightly higher than the public boats. Charter boats are also available for steep prices, feel free to negotiate.
