Krispy Kreme doughnuts come to Bali

Western civilization is on a steady slide back into the swamp. Part of the death of western culture, is the fact we have to much stuff to take care of, and so many things we ‘need’ that we spend many of our waking hours not actually living, but in pursuit of something. The latest temptation to come to Bali is Krispy Kreme, the marketing concept born in the US, and germinated around the globe.

There is nothing wrong with eating a doughnut (donut for you Yanks) necessarily, but the chain store / mall / mindless consuming culture we have created, is built step by step, and here’s another step.

When I go into Discovery Mall, the first thing that hits me (and everyone else) is the smell of sugary bread. Most Indonesians don’t like bread (roti), but line up for this stuff (fattening and bad for you). Part of the growing problem with western culture, is we spend too much time expending hardly any energy, simultaneously being tempted to snack. There is a worldwide epidemic of obesity, diabetes and heart problems related to this issue.
