Jl. Kunti: A handy Seminyak street
Jl. Kunti is a handy little street. I have documented a few of the places down there, from clothes, furniture, surf wear, deli, spa, restaurant, art shop. Jl. Kunti connects Jl. Seminyak with the Sunset Rd, which is the fast track to Kuta. If you come back to Bali in 5 years, Jl. Kunti will be entirely developed and the Sunset Rd will probably called ‘Sunset Strip’. With places like Buddha’s Belly opening, the Sunset Rd is ripe for development and the nightlife scene will probably develop there.
Last night I met up with an old friend from the US in another one of Jl. Kunti’s main spots, The Bottle Shop. This bar is located about 60 meters in from Jl. Seminyak on the right side. The Bottle Shop is home base for many of the local sports teams, including the Bali Gecko’s Aussie Rules team. Old time expats congregate, and last night I was introduced to an American lady who has lived in Bali for 24 years.
My friend and I sat at a table with another American guy. Their conversation about who spoke the best Thai, got heated and my friend took a ear lashing. Very entertaining for me and the other people in the bar dared not to come close to our table. The Bottle Shop serves Storm beer, which is a bonus.
On the corner of Jl. Kunti sits Lush, a cool little bar that is never busy. If you want to sip a beer and watch the world float by on Jl. Seminyak, try Lush.
