Meeting Kore Petersen in Legian Bali
Kore Petersen is a Baliblog reader who has been coming to Indonesia for years. Kore’s Indonesian family is from Malang in Java and I got to meet his in-laws as well as his wife Lucy and son Evan. Kore and family are staying at one of the family apartments at the Jayakarta Hotel and for a small group of adults and kids, this seems a good option. The family apartment has 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and lounge.
Kore is from Minnesota, which is quite cold right now. After spending time in Malang the family took a short break in Bali and today are headed back to ‘the land of 10,000 lakes’. We chatted about living in Indo and travelling. Kore’s in-laws have spent time in the US and he is very familiar with Indonesia, having visited friends over many years.
My BBQ’s seem to be getting ahead of themselves. Kore brought me a bottle of ‘Devil’s Spit’ Sauce from Minnesota. We had talked online about doing one while he was here, the time just passed by so quick.
Little Evan loves being in the pool and seemed to be getting used to the hot weather. He’s not yet walking and the hard floors replaced the carpet he’s used to. Lucy told me the western lifestyle is very different for her. Having a good job means she has to schedule everything, a total contrast to local life in Indo, where people drop round for a visit and spend half the day chatting.
Hope to see the Petersens next year and we’ll do that BBQ.
