Chatting with Greg from Florida in Seminyak Bali
Wednesday afternoon I met Greg from Florida in Lanai, on Blue Ocean Beach. Greg found me through BootsnAll.com and wanted to have a chat.
I didn’t have my bag of tricks with me, but we enjoyed a nice sunset, over a few large Bintangs. Greg is a super interesting guy, and told me he is moving to Bali (seems like half the planet is moving to Bali, and the thing that supports this is the internet).
We talked about the usual, villas, visas, girls, nightlife, life in Bali. Greg told me that he had a near miss a couple of years ago. He and a buddy went scuba diving on a live aboard boat, off of Phuket in Thailand. This began on December 22nd. On the morning of the 26th, they were a couple of miles offshore, close to some small islands. Greg said he saw the tide line raise and fall, a meter inside a minute, and thought it was some weird local riptide. Arriving back in Phuket, a military ship that was moored in the jetty, was now on the road and the place was a disaster. I said to him imagine if your timing was a little off, you could of been in the middle of that. Next time I get together with Greg, I take a photo and ask him a few questions on the mic.
Internet geeks, Blue Ocean bar is a ‘hotspot’ so you can get online and look at the waves at the same time.
