Soccer shirts in Denpasar Bali
Ika, Jevon, Awang and I just got back from a little shopping trip in Denpasar. Awang took us on a mystery tour, to 2 little sports shops selling ‘competitively priced’ World Cup shirts. Any visitor to Bali will be familiar with these, as they are sold next in all the main tourist areas. Once previously I had been offered a soccer shirt on Jl. Kartika Plaza in Tuban for 300,000rp! Finally getting it for 75,000rp. Today prices were even better.
One vendor asked me for 150,000rp for 2, seeing as I was a white guy, but I was not having any of that nonsense. I walked away with a bundle of XL shirts for 30,000rp each. Just makes you think what it actually costs to make one of these, and then what it costs to make a ‘genuine’ one. Nike is making a killing on these shirts in western countries.
