Parking your motorbike in Bali
Motorbikes are a way of life in Indonesia and Bali is part of that. The family car is a 110cc Honda Supra with mum, dad and the kids assembled in some fashion. The heavy passenger load won’t stop dad driving like a maniac, but might make his reactions slower. Parking that motorbike is something you will have to negotiate several times a day in Bali.
Jakarta is a somewhat different scene than Bali, with people a little more up tight. IndCoup talks about a parking experience he had recently in Jakarta. Usually its not that serious here in Bali, though for some reason, where ever I park in a parking area, the attendant will approach me and ask me to move, even if its 2ft to the side. They have a thing about that, even if the lot is empty.
Since living in Bali I have never had anything bad happen to my bike, and one time a shop owner saved my ass, by grabbing the keys I left in the ignition.
