Nyoman: Handicraft vendor Poppies I Kuta

Poppies Lane I is another narrow gang that leads from Jl. Legian to the beach. Originally just a sandy track, lined with palm trees, its now a brick lane, lined with shops. I spoke to Nyoman, owner of a small place selling decorations. Nyoman’s shop, which actually doesn’t have a name, is situated next to Kedin’s Cafe, the Thai / Asian place about 100 meters from the beach.

Nyoman was with her young son and they seemed in good spirits. Among the items on display were bamboo wind chimes, twirly colored hanging decorations, framed paintings, cloth bags, Balinese masks and carvings of mythical figures, kites, painted drums and a selection of other small nick nacks. Prices in Nyoman’s shop were all negotiable, its all about how good you are at bargaining. Nyoman’s shop is open daily from 10am – 8pm.

Here’s what Nyoman had to say.
