Nasi campur in Jegeg Bulan Kuta
Lunch today was in Jegeg Bulan, the handy family restaurant that sits across from Mini Mart on Poppies II. My choice was good nasi campur (mixed rice). Nasi campur is pretty much the national dish, that and nasi goreng (fried rice). When you order nasi campur, you never exactly know what is coming, as the dish originated by people using leftovers and fresh food, to get through the day.
A nasi campur ordered in Kuta / Seminyak / Sanur, will be somewhat tamer than one out in the country. Restaurants know westerners don’t like assorted animal parts, and go for the safer, beef, chicken, tofu combos.
In today’s nasi campur were bean spouts and greens, cucumber, tomato, omelette, pork satay, chicken, tempe, tofu, vegetables in peanut sauce and rice. A krupuk (shrimp cracker) was placed on top. Price today was 20,000rp. You can get it cheaper, but I figured this one was decent.
