Balinese temple south of Ubud-part I
Riding home and still marveling and the chance of meeting Linda Garland and checking out her hotel, I took an assortment of local streets. Passing a small local temple I had to jump off and check it out. I have no idea what the name of this temple was, but it had some cool features, which are not usually seen in other pura (temples). Situated close to the road, I saw a team of young workmen busy sawing wood and building some kind of structure out the temple. Outside the temple a carving of a monster sat next to a tree.
This was definitely different. The temple was probably fairly new judging by condition of the shrines, definitely no more than 20 years, although the site of been of religous significance before that time. I liked the way the sawah (rice fields) came right up to the temple. The equipment of the pemanku (temple priest) was out in the open, indicating that ceremonies had been carried out recently. Walking around a Balinese temple has a calming effect.
