A Closer Look at May 2006 Arrivals in Bali
Tourist arrivals in May look promising and point to a productive year for the island with the increase continuing according to the article in the Bali Discovery.
Foreign arrivals to Bali in May 2006 totalled 101,776 a figure that lagged -12.72% behind 116,615 near record number of arrivals in the same month one year before. Those hoping to see arrival numbers notch another month of improving totals in May were no doubt disappointed. May arrivals slipped statistically as compared to April when month-on-month arrivals were down only -10.65%.
Whether or not this statistical plateau is a momentary pause on the way to better numbers or a prolonged relapse in the Island's recovery efforts will only be borne out by arrival figures over the coming months. Here are the country by country demographics.
As always the greatest deterrent for tourists is that of terrorist activity and with the recent release of Abu Bakar Bashir and his continued outspoken activities since his release, it will continue to be the cause next to that of Avian Bird Flu although this virus has yet to be found on the island.
Bali will bounce back and when it does it will be boom time again and of that I have full confidence. With the ever increasing security measures being put in to place on the island, tourists can feel some manner of safety once again travelling to this beautiful island.
