Warming up for friday night in Bali

Friday night is here in Seminyak Bali. The time is 8.30pm, which means any kind of action is hours away. The party doesn’t start till midnight, and goes all night in some places.

For a newly arrived tourist this can prove problematic. You’re on holiday, the drinks are flowing, sunset drinks, followed by dinner, now its 8pm and you have 4 hours till things get rocking. You drink more at a lounge bar and get in the mood. By midnight you’re already wasted and by 1am you’re dead on your feet.

People who live here will probably eat a late dinner if planning to go out, maybe 9.30rp, then look for a quiet place to sit and enjoy a drink, play some pool, or even go home with friends for an hour or 2. After midnight the real partiers come out.

I’m not a real partier, at least any more, so I’m happy to knock back a few drinks and head home when I feel like it. Good places to fill that after dinner gap might be Ku De Ta, Fuel, Hu’u, Buddha’s Belly for pool or any place that offers a quiet place to sit.
