Visiting SOS International clinic in Kuta Bali

This morning Ika, Jevon and I rode down to Simpang Siur, the roundabout in Kuta. A couple of minutes down the Bypass to Sanur we pulled into the SOS International clinic. Ika had fever and chills last night which were quite intense, so I wanted to get her checked out fast.

The staff were polite and within 15 minutes Ika was getting seen to. A blood analysis did not come up with anything straight away, but they’ll call me later today. Measels could be a possibility as could dengue. The doctor wanted to check Jevon’s immunization chart as Ika is still breast feeding. He’s fine right now so should be good. Ika’s sister has large red spots with similar symptoms.

Ika told me they were eating together the other day, sharing a spoon. That’s part of the problem over here, no separation of things on a daily basis. I look in my fridge and see a bowl of raw chicken in water, sitting next to a bowl of cut fruit. You go into a local’s bathroom and a cup of toothbrushes are packed together, perched on top of the toilet. The list goes on, and add the fact that animals such as chickens are kept at home by many people then eaten, and you have a situation where germs can spread.

The doctor we spoke too was Indonesian and sounded professional. We’ll find out what Ika’s deal is and she’ll get some medication to set her straight. My bill so far is 835,000rp, expensive for a local, but worth it to save your wife.
