Saying goodbye to Steve from WA Australia

Steve Love just came over to my house to say goodbye. Steve has been over my place for bbq’s before, this time he’s been surfing almost everyday. Recently he did a trip out to Medewi, and said the surf was great. Swell on the Bukit expected to be big today and friday.

Sometimes having a kid, one forget how special it is. This really hits home when I meet people in their late 20’s / 30’s who don’t have kids. Steve was saying how lucky I am, and what a little champ Jevon is. Yes I am lucky for sure.

Jevon has got a hanging toy holder, stacked with cuddly toys, things that make a noise, and the Tonka truck Barrie’s mother bought. Ika’s brother Awang, recently bought model of a bakso cart (little man wheeling a cart with a drum of soup in). If you turn it on, there’s a tune and the thing walks around in circles. The other day I was talking to my neighbour James, from Sydney. “Hope Jevon doesn’t keep you awake when he’s crying.” I said. “No worries,” said James, “the only thing I ever hear is the bakso cart.”

Steve said it was nice to spend time in Bali enjoying the waves, but heading home will be great. Going from the wide open spaces of WA, to crowded Bali, where there’s someone in your face all the time, can wear you out. Steve rented a scooter for 25,000rp a day while he was out here, affording him total mobility. Rental prices are entirely negotiable and the rates get better as the term gets longer.
