Saturday night in Seminyak Bali

Saturday night in Bali for me, was spent in the company of Elias from NYC (the Big Apple) and Darvis from England. Elias is a super smart guy working for a corporation in Jakarta. Once again we hit Warung Italia on Blue Ocean beach, which has a really great location. My main course (ravioli ) was 28,000rp, the manager was attentive as were the staff and all in we all, we enjoyed ourselves.

Around 11.30pm we strolled down the street to La Vida Loca, the lounge bar on the corner of Jl. Double Six and the beach. It wasn’t that busy at all initially, and we were joined by a strange guy from England , who charged up to us and wanted to buy us beer. “All aight, where you from?” he said to me. “What ’bout ‘im, where’s ‘e from?” When I told him Elias was a New Yorker, there was no holding him back, “Oi New York New York, wot you doing’ over ‘ere then?” Sitting across from us near the entrance was a very attractive young lady, dressed in a tight fitting dress. She sat alone for maybe 45 minutes. Wildman looked over and said “That’s a bloke, that is.” I had to take another look, and ended up agreeing with him. Amazing what a good job these guys do with their outfits!

Wildman thought it amazing, that I knew so little about the night scene, after living in Bali for almost 4 years. He told me he hit 3 places in the immediate area, La Vida Loca, DeJaVu and Double six. He said 2am was when DeJaVu is pumping. Man I haven’t been up till 2am for ages. Around 1am La Vida Loca popped into gear, with a live band, tourists from Europe and a herd of local women. Its a tightly packed place, but I got good vibes from it, less pretencious than some other lounge bars in Seminyak. Leaving around 1.30am, La Vida Loca was going well, maybe I’ll check it out again sometime.
