Rio Helmi: A successful Bali expat

Ubud is home to some of the high profile Bali expats. One of which is Rio Helmi (who was actually born in Indonesia). I’ve never met Rio, but his work is internationally famous, appearing in The New York Times Magazine and Vogue, among many others. One of the things Rio is famous for is work on a book called Bali Style. This contains 330 photographs and is a delight for the eyes. You know when you are on holiday and you see design elements that you might like to copy? This book captures many of those and obviously Rio has a great eye for design.

Rio Helmi lives in Ubud and maybe one day I’ll get to meet him. He can give me tips on photography. I’m always eager to learn and actually picked up one really good tip just from checking out his personal website! The shot he took of the lady walking down a street of penjors is just great.
