New Years time in Seminyak Bali

ikaNew Years for me was a peaceful affair, that passed without even having to drink anything. No worries, I make up for it on other occassions. Ika was happy to be with her mother, sister, brother and Jevon, watching the fireworks on Kuta Beach. Last night we all atteneded a bbq at a house in Dreamland, along with my friends from Oregon. Trying to ignore the negatives and focus on the positives is always going to be a challenge. Last night it took us almost an hour and a half, to get from Seminyak to Dreamland, due to the traffic. Fun to observe our driver, swerving erratically all over the lane, experiencing near misses with other locals, then expressing frustration at them. We took 2 taxis and it worked out. The price one way was around 100,000rp, but I guess that’s better than drinking and driving, in windy, wet weather.

This morning while adjusting the wave painting in my bathroom, 2 large tokets (big lizards) around 8 inches long, scooted from behind it. I’ve been wondering why the painting is always crooked, now I know. Right now in Bali the frogs are having a mating frenzy and nightime can be noisy, if you are next to water. We have tadpoles in our flower pots, swimming around and looking for love.

Ika is only 4′ 11″, so has to stand on the bamboo table to look in the mirror.
