New Honda motorbikes in Bali

Californians get excited when Chevrolet puts out a new model of the Corvette. In Germany its the Mercedes and here in Bali is a Honda scooter. Honda really has the market in a stranglehold (imagine the kick backs somebody is getting!).

Honda has pushed out some new models this summer, including the Honda Vario, a sleek 110cc, automatic scooter aimed at young people. I get a kick out of checking out how the young kids act around their bikes. Everything out here is underpowered, with 125cc being a great scooter. They love attaching shiny bits of gear too, like nuts and bolts that have been spray painted bringht blue of purple.

I’m riding a 100cc Honda SupraFit, which is low powered, has a petrol tank the size of a walnut and is perky around town. One day I’ll upgrade. I have to say the Honda scooters are reliable.

Honda has also brought out the new Tiger, a 200cc machine that is actually a motorbike. People say this is your best best for exploring Bali. At 20m rp you won’t break the bank, and they have plenty of spare parts.

Here’s another addition to Honda’s lineup, the fuel-injected Supra-X 125R. Read the marketing nonsense underneath the photo.

Here’s Honda Indonesia’s price list. Plenty of young Balinese guys will be dreaming of these bikes for a while.
