Mutant gecko's and other creatures in Indonesia
After that photo of Sam, the ‘ugliest dog in the world’, we’re back on the subject of pets. Or should I say, unwanted house guests.
Indonesia is a tropical country where everything grows at an elevated pace. Dealing the mosquiotes is bad enough and part of my defence is to train myself not to mind getting bitten.
Recently we heard a lot of scurrying around in the roofing material. Clumps of dusty bamboo kept falling down and Ika said it was a rat. Over the next couple of days we found 2 inch long baby mice / rats on the stairs dead. The other night I was typing and ‘toket bomb’ landed on my shoulder. I have to remember to close my laptop, or these creatures will block up my keyboard with manure.
IndCoup, a Jakarta resident, tells about a very large gecko he found in his house recently.
