Doing the washing in Seminyak Bali
Low tech solutions are often the best. Here in Bali we employ various low tech methods that are cheap and effective. Today Ana was busy doing laundry in the garden. Jevon would not get in the bath tub, so we put a plastic tub in the garden and he washed himself.
During the day the mosquito population isn’t that bad, so Jevon can run around without worry. Actually he doesn’t get to many bites at any time. Talking about nyamuk (mozzies), a friend told me they can only fly at a maximum of 3mph for 30 seconds. If you have a fan on you while you are sleeping, that is blowing at 3mph or more, there is no way they can get to you. Mozzies can detect carbon dioxide from a long range, so the fan also helps disperse that.
Our clothes washing process uses the hosepipe, that connects from the parking area and passes under the front door. Clothes are washed, rinsed, then dried on a huge aluminum rack, also in the garden. Most of my clothes are not cotton, so the sunlight doesn’t damage them that bad. The kid dries off pretty fast by running around and wrapping himself in a towel. He can hang from the clothes rack by his arms, but we try not to leave him there too long.
