Wednesday evening in Kuta Bali

Here in Kuta Bali I spent some time in an internet cafe on Poppies Lane I. Its intersting to me to see how the speed and prices compare around town. The place I was in was directly across from Bamboo Corner, and cost 12,000rp per hour for decent connection speed, okay equipment and AC. The place had a bathroom, phone booths, but no drinks.

The best place in Seminyak / Kerobokan, is definitely Global Xtreme, with its decent, 7,000rp per hour service. Many of the places in Seminyak charge 28,000rp per hour, for the same type of speed. It can mount up if you’re not careful.

Walking around Kuta, I stopped into a place on Jl. Benesari called Totemu, close to Brasil. The place serves Mexican food among other things. For 20,000rp, I had a mango juice that was disgusting and a ginger chicken and rice that was very good. They put chocolate sauce in the mango juice, YUK! But the ginger chicken tasted great and I’d have it again. The place seats about 20 and most seats were full at 8pm!

News from Jl. Legian, the place next to the Sari Club site, Fuel (formerly had a good restaurant ) lounge bar, dance place, you’ve probably seen it. Well its now ‘Hook‘, looks the same, restaurant open. Nasi goreng kampung 20,000rp.

Kuta feels like its picking up, but still quiet, when seen in the big picture. The other night at around 9pm, the ‘steps’, you know those white steps in front of Kondra internet on Poppies II, where all the tourists sit and get wasted. That place was packed!
