Taman Sukasada – Ujung, East Bali

1lft1Located 5 kilometres south of Amlapura on the coast of Bali you will find Taman Sukasada; more commonly known as Puri Taman Ujung. I visited this place a few years back it was in a sad state of disrepair, however, now it is a pristine and attractive destination firmly secured on the tourist routes. Of the water palaces in Bali this is the largest and set in beautiful gardens with spectacular lakes and pavilions.

Built in 1921 by the last Raja of Karangasem, Anak Agung Anglurah, Taman Sukasada with its recent renovations is a pleasure to visit. During late afternoon you will find the Balinese folk taking a stroll or jogging through the extensive area; such is the size. This picturesque park is open from 7am to 6pm and the entry fee is only Rp10,000.

The best time to visit and for those shutterbugs is around late afternoon when it is cool and the light is perfect for photography. Do have a walk through the main pavilion and simply admire the beauty of this water palace.
