Sidoi Warung: Legian, Bali
The night before Nyepi when Candika and I walked down to Jalan Melasti to see the Ogoh-ogoh was indeed a strange night. Close to 6pm most of the shops had closed as did several of the restorans we passed. In fact, there were a lot of people wandering around to find a place for an evening meal.
There was one warung that was doing a good trade that night and we stopped there for a meal. The Sidoi Warung is located not far from the corner of Jalan Melasti and Jalan Legian. We were pleasantly surprised at the comfy atmosphere and pleasant surroundings of the warung.
A super-clean warung with attentive staff, the one thing that I found interesting was the open-kitchen. Here, you could watch the chefs prepare and cook your meal. With such an extensive selection on the menu it was hard to choose. Both Candika and I were not that hungry and opted for good ‘ol fashioned Fish and Chips and at Rp32,000 for an ample dish, I was pleasantly delighted.
Six decent sized portions of fish lightly fried in a tasty batter were accompanied not with shoestring chips but decent sized chips that had a unique flavour. This is a fabulous warung to keep in mind when next you visit Bali. We will definitely be returning.
