Schapelle Corby’s judicial appeal is underway
Schapelle Corby’s judicial appeal is underway in the Denpasar District Court. This is Corby’s last chance to escape the 20 year sentence she is currently serving for importing 4.1kgs of marijuana.
Corby lawyer Erwin Siregar made some statements at the appeal hearing on friday. Let’s look at some of those comments.
The lawyer told judges “mistakes that were made at all judicial levels.” – Okay so prove it.
In reference to the Supreme Court’s reinstatement of the original 20 year sentence, after a sentence reduction to 15 years, he said “The ruling was made without adhering to evidence that appeared during hearing sessions.” – If he was there, why didn’t he say that to the court. If he wasn’t there, how does he know evidence was not adhered to?
Regarding the bag of dope he said, “The lack of the convict’s fingerprints on the plastic cover [of the bag in which the drugs were found] shows the fact that the convict had no knowledge of the existence of the marijuana.” – Actually it just proves she never touched it, knowledge can be gained without touching.
Refering to Corby taking a bag of marijuana through customs, “it would have been impossible for her to do such a foolish act.” – You reckon?
At this point, only an Israeli commando team, or a Big Solution is going to get Corby out. Let’s hope she’s got #2 line up.
