Pollie Blogging: Indonesia

Blogging is big business these days and a great way to get into other people's lives and minds. Weblogs are everywhere on the net. The President of Indonesia SBY has a blog as do many other pollies in the country.

And, the latest pollie to jump on the 'this is all about me' blogging craze is the Minister of Defence Juwono Sudarsono. Trouble is with these blogs is that you can bullshit to your heart's content and none would ever know!.

Anyway, the politician's weblog which has a neat and elegant layout, has a banner: Integrity in the strict sense and as he says it is a personal blog of interests, views, opinions and activities. I will try from time to time to post in Indonesian but will focus mainly in English to reach a wider personal audience with both Indonesian and non-Indonesian nationals who may care to share their views and counter arguments about particular issues

Juwono, who got his doctoral degree from London School of Economics, wrote that he hoped the blog would advance tolerance and compassion among all religious, ethnic and racial groups in our society and nation.

Many bloggers, mostly young people, lauded his weblog saying that although the comments on the blog were moderated they hoped public could have a say through the blog. Many commended Juwono's articles on issues like defence and democracy.

So, what about the juicy stuff that goes on behind closed doors in parliament then!.

If you want to have a goose gander at his site, then check it out.
