Police Investigate Blast that Kills a 14yr Old Boy: Sulawesi, Indonesia
There is supposed to be two seasons in Indonesia - the dry and the wet. But I reckon there is a third season and I call this the crazy and silly bomb season.
It just seems to me that there is always some nutcase blowing himself, or something up and in other cases, stashing the appropriate elements needed.
Yesterday it was a church in Sulawesi that had been 'renovated' accidentally on purpose with a bomb. And to boot, the police are investigating a bomb blast in Jeneponto, South Sulawesi province that killed a 14 year old boy. We are not talking bricks and mortar here we are talking about a human life.
This kid should have been at school and not being school'd in the art of bomb making if that was what was going on. Apparently the low-intensity device detonated early Sunday in a rice field in a village in Jeneponto regency. The police found ammonium nitrate, small metal nails and wires at the scene. This was obviously a bomb in the making to not only kill but create havoc and wound numerous people.
The police suspect the boy who died may have detonated the bomb accidentally. Again I say what the hell was this child doing being around such incendiaries. The blast took place in a village far away from anywhere. Usually a terrorism act will take place in crowded place. It is not clear if Jemaah Islamiah, a regional terrorist group blamed for a series of bloody bombings Indonesia in recent years is active in the area according to police sources. Hello, wake up!.
Apparently the province unlike Central Sulawesi has no known history of violence between the Muslim and Christian communities. The police were further quoted as saying they had yet to find the links to terrorism activities.
And the silly season goes on.
