Poinciana Resort: Tembok, North-East Bali

I have been showing people around Bali for a long time now; taking them to those rarely seen places on the island; my treasured places. Inevitably, I take most people to the north-east coast and to experience one place that, as a resort, I find magical. This place is the Poinciana Resort located in the village of Tembok and situated on the coast far from the craziness of the tourist area.

Everybody that I have taken there has loved it for the sheer experience of staying in a five star resort at half the price. There is a certain atmosphere about the Poinciana that is captivating. Its seclusion alone is peaceful. Add to that the fact there are no televisions or radios in the room as in almost every place on Bali, then this alone makes a stay at this resort ever so delightful and special.

Set in magnificent, lush gardens around an inviting swimming pool, the 16 bungalows are placed throughout the grounds giving maximum privacy and several of them overlook the ocean. The luxuriously furnished bungalows are stunning and at times you will find yourself just chilling out and enjoying the delights of it all.

The superb open-air restoran surrounded by fish ponds is a great place for imbibing in the delights on off and all the food is super-fresh. Locally grown produce is used and the delicious seafood available on the menu virtually comes directly out of the ocean. The restoran serves Western Chinese and Indonesian cuisine. The breakfast, which is included in the price of the room, is bountiful and you will find yourself fully satiated.

I particularly like the early morning walks along the beach and watch the fishermen plying their trade in the ocean depths. The waters off the coast are fabulous for snorkelling. The Poinciana Resort is indeed a place where you can relax in total seclusion surrounded by sheer silence apart from the lapping of the waves on the shoreline.

Prices for the bungalows are extremely reasonable starting at Rp600,000 but bargain for a better price and you will be delightfully surprised. There is a pick-up service available from the airport at no extra charge.
