Peace building exercise in Bali
Indonesia is rich with culture and religion. Bali too, although predominantly Hindu, is home to a sizable Muslim community that is a getting bigger every year. Add to that the many Indonesian Christians and Buddhists.
Religious differences can lead to violence as is Ambon, Central Sulawesi and other areas. Getting people together to talk about their religion and their differences is important, as is teaching people conflict management.
A 2 week Bali Peace Building Course was recently completed in Denpasar by 40 young people form all over Indonesia. Former President Megawati attended the event and spoke about national unity, over religious differences. I’m lucky, I have no religion and so am never likely to kill somebody over it.
