Munduk & Tamblingan in the highlands of Bali
Lake Tamblingan sits on the northern side of Gunung Batukaru, one of the largest volcanoes in Bali. Most visitors who pass through this area, do so in a tourist bus, stopping at maybe 1 or 2 places for a photo, then off to their next activity.
Munduk lies on a steep road, that runs past Lake Tamblingan, to Mayong, and connects with the north-south road to Seririt. Munduk is a quiet village, but one that can be used as a point from which to explore the area.
Points of interest in the Lake Tamblingan / Munduk area:
•Hike the route north of Lake Tamblingan to Munduk.
•Visit the Plastic Pyramid, a piece of art created in 1993, out of compacted plastic.
•The Munduk waterfall.
•The 8 hour hike to the top of Gunung Lesong.
•The 7 hour hike from Lake Tamblingan to Jatiluwih.
•Forest walk from Pura Pekemitan to Lake Tamblingan. On the way you will pass through a landscape compete with squirrels, monkeys and other wildlife.
•Hike around Lake Tamblingan, enjoying the serenity and checking out the many temples, which include, Pura Pekemitan, Pura Sangiang Kangin, Pura Dalem Tamblingan, Pura Endeg, Pura Kentogumi Tamblingan, Pura Ulun Danau Tamblingan.
•Puri Lumbing Cottages, has a selection of short 2 hour hikes, to points of interest, temples and also classes.
Munduk / Lake Tamblingan
Driving time from Kuta: 2.5 hours.
Driving time from Lovina: 40 minutes.
Best time of year to visit: Dry season, from April-October.
Temperatures: Pleasant and sunny during the day, cool at night. Bring a sweater.

Supermarket: Nearest one in Singaraja
Perama bus: Has office in Candikuning. you can get dropped off there and catch a local bemo bus to Lake Tamblingan / Munduk.
Money: Be sure to change money in Kuta, if you are intending to stay in the
mountains for an extended time.
