Kuta Beach Bali

kuta beach baliLiving in the city as I call it, one often forgets that natural beauty is just around the corner. The longer I spend in Kuta and Seminyak, the more cement I see and the less of everything else. Heading home via Pantai Kuta offers a great view of Kuta Beach. For jet-lagged tourists waking up on their first day in Bali, the sight Kuta Beach with the sun shining and the low trees inviting you to sit for a while, must be a wonderful thing.

Sitting on my porch in the evenings, I can hear and see aircraft taking off in the distance. The direction in which they do that, gives me an idea of the winds and weather. Planes take off and land into the wind, so when they are landing by flying over Kuta Beach, the winds are offshore for the western Bukit surf breaks, dry season conditions. Recently we’ve had wet weather, hence approaches over Nusa Dua. Up in the highlands yesterday afternoon it was positively chilly, rain lashing down at times. Back in Seminyak, I was glad to feel the warmth of my tiled porch underfoot.

Kuta Beach is a good starting point for any tourist / backpacker coming to Bali. Cheap accommodation can be found on Jl. Benesari, Poppies I & II. Right now you’ll need an AC room, but after May temperatures start to fall and by night time its cool and pleasant.
