Indonesian rupiah: Best performer in region

The Indonesian rupiah is the best performing currency in the region according to the Bloomberg business wire. There are a whole host of reasons for the rupiah’s gain, and if you are that interested you’d better talk to someone who understands business better than I do.

The current exchange rate with the US dollar is 9,005rp. The rising rupiah will mean slightly higher prices for visiting tourists and better profits for the country. Jakarta Post goes into depth about the rupiah’s record.

If you are visiting Bali you will see a whole range of exchange rates offered at local money changers. Some charge a commission but give better rates, others do not charge a commission but give worse rates. The most reliable money changers are Central Money Changer located at Bemo corner in Kuta, and the one across from Bintang in Seminyak.
