Indonesian public holidays in 2008
The Indonesian government has decided dates for public holidays in 2008. According to Bali Discovery, 3 government ministries, (Ministry of Religion, the Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration, and the State Ministry for Administrative Reform) created a timetable that covers both traditional religious and political holidays in addition to “shared holidays” creating extended holidays.

• 07 March 2008 – Nyepi Bali’s traditional day of Silence and Hindu New Year 1930 Saka

• 21 March 2008 – Good Friday

• 01 May 2008 – Ascension day of Jesus Christ
• 02 May 2008 – “Shared Holiday” by Government Decree

• 30 July 2008 – Isra Mi’raj Prophet Mohammad SAW, Celebrating the Ascension of The Prophet Muhammad
• 17 August 2008 – Indonesian Independence Day
• 18 August 2008 – “Shared Holiday” for Independence Day (Officially celebrated on 17 August 2008)
