I Made Joni Restaurant & Gallery: Ubud, Bali
Yesterday we went up to Tampaksaring north of Ubud to meet some old friends of ours. During the course of a conversation it was decided we all head down to Ubud for a spot of lunch. In Ubud there is a plethora of fabulous restorans to choose from and especially some that have traditional Balinese food on their menu.
Since between us we all liked Bebek (Duck) the only practical choice was I Made Joni Restaurant & Gallery in Teges Kanginan. It is their speciality. The restoran is a bale style and a delightful place set in traditional décor overlooking rich, green padi fields. Lining the back wall is a selection of artwork by the owner.
Besides the Bebek there is an extensive menu of other Balinese delights. But, it was the Bebek we came for. We ordered the Smoked Duck (Rp95,000) and the portions were more than ample as was the Crispy Duck (Rp85,000) servings.
I Made Joni Restaurant & Gallery is a popular place and patronised by tourist buses on a regular basis and so it is best to time your visit as the place does get very crowded. Out the front of the restaurant is an interesting gallery with some excellent art work. All pieces are for sale and reasonably priced.
