Galungan in progress in Bali
Galungan is in progress in Bali and chatting with staff at Cafe Seminyak, I heard that some of them were able to go home to their village yesterday, some today. Sitting here in an internet cafe in Seminyak, the staff are all in traditional outfits.
Walking along the beach in Seminyak I could see canang, the small square trays of offerings to the Gods. Yesterday I saw some elaborate examples on Jl. Legian. Bali seems quiet right now, which is cool as it gives the impression a major celebration is on. My gym was closed yesterday, and didn’t I look an idiot, showing up dressed for action, to find the front door locked. Last night I agreed to mett Mike Hillis, from Maluku Divers at the Cat & Fiddle pub is Sanur, which turned out tobe closed also. Being 0 for 2, I suggested going to the pub across the street on Jl. Camara.
Good times and I will try to grab some photos of some of the more elaborate decorations and ceremonies during Galungan .
