Former head of Indonesian investment board goes to the ‘Big House’

Indonesian President SBY’s attempts to rid the country of corruption, have scored another victory. The former head of the Investment Coordinating Board was sentenced to 6 years in jail for corruption.

Why are we surprised at reading this kind of stuff? Its the tip of the iceberg in a part of the world, where ‘working a little fiddle’, (in this case a big fiddle) is part of daily life.

The convicted man, Theodorus Toemion, embezzled state fund to the tune of $3.3 million, from 2003-2004. Six years seems a good deal for that amount of cash. This guy did this knowing full well, that the buck stop nowhere in Indonesia, or at least didn’t used to.

Good on SBY for persevering.
