Cell phones popular, but still tremendous market in Indonesia
There have been 3 revolutions in human history, the agricultural, the industrial and the information. We are still in the early stages of the last one and the possibilities that radio, TV, the internet and cell phones offer are amazing.
Here in Indonesia I see cell phones all over the place, even used by people without a job. Often I chat with a local who might earn something like 800,000rp per month and their greatest desire is to upgrade their phone to one that takes photos and plays sill tunes. People can always find money for luxuries, even in a down market.
Compared to other SE Asian nations, cell phone sales in Indonesia are low, but that is increasing. There is tremendous opportunity in Indonesia marketing cell phones and with every new upgrade, a whole new range of possibilities.
