Bird flu a serious matter in Indonesia

Indonesia has the world’s second-highest human fatality count, from bird flu. The standing count is 26 deaths from 34 confirmed cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has asked Indonesia and the surrounding countries to take urgent measures to stem the spread of the disease. Measures suggested include antiviral drugs, quarantines, travel restrictions and social distancing, such as the closure of schools. Singapore is currently stockpiling antiviral drugs for use throughout the region in case of a major breakout.

Nobody here in Bali really spends any time worrying about bid flu. Every couple of years there seems to be something new, remember SARS? Seems to me that your chances of contracting bird flu are extremely low, if just on holiday.
