Bemo Corner – A Landmark in Bali
Whatever city you travel to in the world there are certain landmarks by which the locals will give you directions; and, Bali it is no different. Located at the end of the one-way street, Jalan Legian, it is easy to find and easily recognised as only a roundabout with a plethora of traffic jostling for position on the busy intersection.
If you are new to Bali, the locals will often direct you to Bemo Corner and tell you where you need to go from there, that is, if you are staying in the Kuta/Legian/Seminyak area; walking or driving. If you head down Jalan Legian [north to south] then a turn to the right will take you directly to Kuta beach along Jalan Pantai Kuta.
Taking a left turn at Bemo Corner and travelling directly east will eventually get you to Denpasar connecting up with Jalan Iman Bonjol. It is also off this left turn where the feeder roads to the right will take you down to Tuban [via a right turn down a side street] and to the airport along Jalan Raya Tuban.
The great thing for first-timers to Bali is that once you have established the location of Bemo Corner then you can pretty well get around the whole of the tourist strip and explore to your hearts content.
