Bali weather April 20th 2007
Bali’s weather is getting dryer, but still the heat persists and the occasional downpour shows up.
Talking to Rob yesterday (Rob’s pool supply in Sydney), the water off of Kuta Beach still has a lot of plastic in it. Rob (blue shirt) and his lovely wife Bev, are at the end of their holiday with their 3 daughters. Rob hired a boat to go fishing and the guy took him to where the line of garbage floats of off Kuta Beach. Apparently the little fish hide under the garbage to get shade from the sun, so the big fish know where they are. If you are a savvy fisherman you’ll head for the garbage. Too bad in a way, but that’s life.
The Balinese attitude to the environment is ‘if I can’t see it, it doesn’t exist.’ Garbage trucks dumping loads next to streams, waiting for the next rain, beach sweepers burying the trash they swept in the sand, waiting for the next tide, its all part of the same mentality.
Anyway folks, when the tides change and the rain stops, the garbage will not appear in our view as much. This afternoon dark foreboding clouds gathered in Seminyak and dropped 20 minutes worth of rain on us. I had the chance to test the new rain poncho Ika bought. My old one had a massive tear in it, so she bought a blue one with 2 heads. As a solo rider, I looked like a freak, but that was better than getting wet. Here is the 10 day weather forecast for Bali.
