Australia issues travel warning for Indonesia
Australia has issued a travel warning against Indonesia which includes Bali. The Australian government says it has been receiving a stream of information that points to a terrorist attack somewhere in Indonesia. That includes Bali, although your guess is as good as mine as to the accuracy of such information.
Last Christmas there were all kinds of reports and warnings and nothing happened. Let’s hope its the same this time. Mail & Guardian Online reports that April 2nd might be the day a terrorist event will happen. My guess would be Saturday night (April 1st), as that’s one time you can guarantee everyone will be out.
If you are in Bali and the absolute worst thing happens and there is an attack, don’t panic. If you are out on the town and you hear news relating to that, stay where you are, try to exit through the rear of the building and stay there until you hear more news. Usually these things go off rapid fire in more than one location, getting out of harms way till its over isn’t hard.
Anyway I live right in the thick of things here in Seminyak, you could hit my house with a Bintang bottle from Jl. Dhyana Pura, and I don’t feel particularly at risk. Most likely this warning will not affect Bali and we’ll all be taking about other stuff by next weekend.
