Adi Soetjipto Airport Reopened: Yogyakarta, Indonesia

The government reopened Adi Soetjipto Airport, Yogyakarta yesterday for commercial flights. The Minister of Transportation, Hatta Rajasa, said the notice has been issued.

"Use of the facilities of the domestic terminal that collapsed were transferred to the international terminal" said Hatta after attending a coordination meeting to handle the post-natural disaster at the Department of Finance in Jakarta.

Actually, Candika is flying to Jakarta today on business which raised concerns from yours truly. I am not sure about the air traffic going in and out at such a busy time with all the foreign aid being flown in. I look forward to hearing all about it this afternoon when she returns.

There are hourly flights to and from Jakarta every day with Garuda Airlines, and, three flights per day from Bali to Yogyakarta. Add to this the selection of other airlines plying these routes, then it makes it so much easier for visitors to visit Java for a day or two and see the magnificent Borobudur Temple Complex, Prambanan Temple Complex and the other attractions Yogyakarta has to offer.

So when the city finally gets back on its feet, so to speak, find the time to experience another culture. You will not regret it.
