3 Bali bombers to seek Supreme Court date
The 3 original Bali bombers, Amrozi, Samudra and Gufron, will seek a date with the Indonesian Supreme Court, according to their lawyer.
All 3 have been sentenced to death for their part in the Sari Club / Paddy’s bombings, and are going for their last shot at salvation. They were convicted by a retro-active law, which was not on the books when they committed the crime. You can argue the legality of that all day long, but I would of thought ‘conspiracy to murder’ would already be on the books and that is easy to prove.
The lawyer representing the 3, M. Mahendradatta, said they had signed documents 2 months ago, for a review of the case before the Supreme Court, although they yet to file an application to appeal. Mr. Mahendradatta said the trial would likely be outside Bali, to avoid upsetting the Balinese people, and Cilacap, on the south coast of C. Java, would be a good location.
