10 people crushed in Indonesian concert
Ten people have been crushed to death at a rock concert in Jakarta. Watching local TV, I am aware of the fact that Indonesians enjoy rock music, and that there are many rocks bands in this country. A couple of years ago I saw Lolot perform in Negara, west Bali at a soccer field. Seems to me that Bali / Indonesia is not heavy on security, in the same was the US is. People are allowed quite a bit of freedom at concerts, and also there is no age limitation.

10 killed in concert crush in Central Java
JAKARTA (AP): A stampede at a pop concert in central Indonesia, killed 10 people and injured scores of others, most of them teenagers, police said Wednesday.
The crush began as the audience of thousands was leaving the performance of Ungu, a popular Indonesian guitar band, at a sports stadium in the town of Pekalongan, Central Java province, late Tuesday, Corm. Slamet said.
“People were very rough and began pushing,” he told The Associated Press. “The victims were trampled to death.”
Police took 10 bodies to the nearest hospital, while dozens ofothers had minor injuries, said Slamet, who like many Indonesian goes by a single name.
Concert organizers were not immediately available for comment.
As far as safety precautions for a person visiting Bali, who is hoping to go to a concert, I’d suggest remembering where the exits are inside a building. A sudden blaze, combined with a packed audience, can cause dissorientation.
